Masinagudi is located in an area that is part of the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve National Park famous for its rich forests, enchanting environment, an abundance of flora and fauna that is a great draw for visitors from near and far.

Those keen on experiencing wildlife firsthand will realize that there is a no better option than the Mudumalai reserve forests that house a number of protected animals - besides being home to India’s single largest population of Bengal Tigers (pop. Estimated at 50+) is also a habitat to a diverse variety of animals like the Indian elephant, Indian leopard, chital and sambar deer, wild boar, red giant flying squirrels, a variety of other smaller animals like anteaters, jackals, bears and monitor lizards.

The forests are also home to more than 200 species of birds that include a variety of eagles (Rufous-bellied, crested hawk, crested serpent, changeable hawk and black), vultures, fly-catchers, owls, cuckoos, woodpeckers, parakeets, jungle fowls, sunbirds, bee-eaters, and hornbills. The Nilgiris Hills also accommodate tea-coffee plantations. The Nilgiris (Blue Mountain) tea from this region has a unique flavor adding to the other major famous Indian tea from Darjeeling.
